Habitat Liquidation Sale!!!

(My face when I found out about the sale...Thanks Homebug!)

The weekend we've all been waiting for since Habitat closed down in May is finally here.

The opening hours will be:
Friday 12 noon-6pm
Saturday 9am-6pm
Sunday 12 noon-5pm
Monday 9am-5pm

All stock will be reduced by up to 80% off.

I have some unfinished business with that store and will definitely be there to try to snap up some bargains. If anyone would like to meet up afterwards for some post-habitat-madness lunch, feel free to contact me tonight.

How did you get on? It was kind of hellish when I was there (45 minutes waiting to get in, most furniture stock with 'sold' stickers). Some brilliant bargains to be had though, if you got in early enough and had time to queue to pay...

If only my arms were longer...I made out with 3 bags of stuff, but nothing big. Some cushions, a few cups, some picture frames, a fan, and some fabric. I wanted to go back to buy more, but the queue was insane!

I am raging! I only found out about this today and am in work, so will have to make do with tomorrow :( I assume there is feck all left? What were the prices like?

At least you got a decent stash Shawna! I actually picked up some of their fab 'hollywood dressing room' type lights (can't remember the name!) as I've always loved them. But then I hadn't time to queue to buy them - wail!

Trunko, I'd imagine they'll replenish the stock on the floor for tomorrow. The reductions were pretty good from what I saw, it seemed at least 50% off anything I picked up. The lights I mentioned were reduced from something like 120 quid to 30...

Yeah hopefully they do replenish tomorrow. I'm sure tomorrow will be even more crazy though! Decent sounding reductions too. I guess I'll just have to dive in and see what happens :) Will let ye know how I get on!

P.S: Came across both your blog & 'Homebug' today (a friend pointed them out) and must say there is some great stuff on there! Am currently preparing to build a house so am on the look out for some cool interior design type sites (particularly Irish based) for inspiration, and will definitely be checking in on yours regularly. Will hopefully be setting up a blog soon blogging all my progress. Will send on link when I do so.

I am very happy for you all. 60 people, myself included, lost their jobs as a result of habitat going into liquidation. I worked there for more than a decade. I have a young family. I hope you got some terrific bargains which consisted mainly of tat that no-one would have touched in May prior to the store closure!

Hi - habitat staff were really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and of course was very sorry they lost their jobs. However, they are preferential creditors, and hence are in the queue to be paid off from the proceeds of the liquidation sale.

Yes Michael you are quite right.
2 weeks wages.
2 weeks taxable wages.
Losing your job in such a way is devastating.
